Subtle Signs of the Day of Judgment: Reflecting on Our Society

سنن أبو داؤد کی ایک حدیث ہے کہ قیامت کے قریب صرف بُرے لوگ ہی باقی رہ جائیں گے (سنن أبو داؤد2482)

لیکن بُرے لوگ ہوتے کون ہیں ؟ آپ کسے بُرا کہو گے ؟

کچھ عرصہ پہلے میں نے ایک حدیث نبویؐ پڑھی تھی جسے إمام أحمد إبن حنبلؒ نے حضرت فاطمہؓ کے حوالے سے لیا تھا ۔
فاطمہؓ کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہؐ نے فرمایا کہ میری امّت کے برے لوگ وہ ہوں گے کہ جب ان کے پاس نعمت (یعنی دولت) آ جائے … تو وہ طرح طرح کے کھانے اور کپڑے تلاش کرتے پھریں گے اور جب بات کریں گے … تو بے مقصد بات کریں گے ۔
(کتاب الزہد از أحمد إبن حنبل ص ۹۸ رقم حدیث ۴۰۴)

صرف ایک منٹ کے لیے سوچیں کہ آج ہمارے معاشرے کی اکثریت…کیا ان لوگوں میں نہیں آتی کہ جو یہی سب کچھ کر رہے ہیں ؟
وہی لوگ کہ جن پر قیامت برپا ہونی ہے ؟

There is a hadith in Sunan Abu Dawood which says that near the Day of Judgment, only bad people will remain. (Sunan Abu Dawood 2482)

But who are the bad people? Who would you call bad?

Some time ago, I read a hadith of the Prophet (PBUH) narrated by Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal from Hazrat Fatima (RA). Fatima (RA) says that

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said that the bad people of my Ummah will be those who, when wealth (i.e., prosperity) comes to them, will seek various types of food and clothes, and when they speak, they will speak without purpose.
(Book of Zahd by Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, page 98, hadith number 404)

Just think for a minute, doesn’t the majority of our society today fall into this category, doing exactly the same things? Are these not the people upon whom the Day of Judgment is to come?
